About Plantation: MIM Tea Estate was established in mid to late 1800 at Sukhiya Pokhori, near Darjeeling. The name “Mim” originates from the local term “Mem,” which refers to a British lady, often addressed as “Mem Sahab.” At one juncture, the garden was under the management of a British lady, prompting locals to affectionately dub it “Mem ko Kaman,” signifying the garden owned or overseen by the British Lady.
This heritage tea estate in Darjeeling stands unique as it is operated by the Government of India under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Enterprise, with management overseen by Andrew Yule.
